An AI-based medical imaging tool to segment tissues from pathology slides
As part of a research team at the University of Tartu in Estonia, supported by Perkin Elmer, I worked on one of the earliest applications of deep learning for tissue segmentation in histopathology images.
We built and evaluated end-to-end pipelines for model training and inference, and developed internal tools to help researchers visualize and interpret segmentation results. Our deep learning approach significantly outperformed the classical algorithms used at the time.
